John Ashcroft Appointed Chairperson of Wolf Blass Gallery
We’re delighted to announce that our Principal, John Ashcroft has been appointed by Dr Wolf Blass AM BVK as the Chairperson of the Wolf Blass Gallery and Museum, as well as the Adelaide Hills Wine Bar in Hahndorf South Australia, effective 1 July 2024.
“I’m honoured that Wolf Blass has entrusted me with the role of Chair of the Wolf Blass Gallery and Museum and the Adelaide Hills Wine Bar. I’m passionate about the wine industry and tourism in the Adelaide Hills, so I am very much looking forward to working with Wolf to further develop the business in the tourism space,” said John.
Through Fore Design (formerly Beyond Ink), John has established strong ties to the wine and tourism industry. With extensive experience in assisting clients with numerous winery, cellar door and accommodation projects, John’s knowledge of the wine and tourism sectors in the Adelaide Hills will underpin the value of his appointment.
An out of the box thinker, John has driven business and growth in regional South Australia for many years and has been a trustee for the Wolf Blass Foundation for the past 4 years. He is a past sitting board member of Regional Development Australia (Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island), and former Chairperson of Hahndorf Business and Tourism Association.
Originally built in 1912, the venue was restored by the Wolf Blass Foundation in 2018 with the design assistance of Fore Design. It encompasses the original Hahndorf township schoolhouse, which has been thoughtfully preserved and converted into a cooperage for visitors to gain insight into the ancient craft of barrel making.
The Wolf Blass Gallery and Museum showcases the personal achievements, records and private collection of Wolf Blass, encompassing an incredible 60 year career in winemaking.
Guests can meander through to the Adelaide Hills Wine Bar to experience the selection of local wines as curated by Wolf Blass Foundation Trustee Brian Walsh and Wolf Blass himself.
